Hernani has a \u201czero-waste\u201d refrigerator which is used to store leftovers from local school canteens. The leftovers are given away free of charge to the families that may need them.<\/h5>\n

Organic waste is processed at public compost locations set up within town limits, as well as at smaller individual composters placed near the residences that have vegetable patches and gardens.
